Tendrilleaf Fritillary Bulb (Chuan Beimu) is the bulb of Fritillaria Cirrhosa, Liliaceae. Chuan Beimu in the layman’s term. “Chuan” represents its original growing area Sichuan where grows the Chuan Beimu with best quality.
The authentic Chuan Beimu is with off-white surface and likes raw Coix seed in size. It is subconical in shape and slightly wider at the bottom. When putting a Chuan Beimu on the table, it sits firmly which resembles in “Guanyin sitting in a lotus” position. There are two outer scale leaves of greatly disparate sizes. The larger-scale leaves embrace the smaller one, leaving a section with the shape of a crescent moon. It is described as “Embracing the moon”.
